George, She's Pulling Herself Up!

There's this movie, maybe you've heard of it: Father of the Bride (Part 1).  As I'm sure you can extrapolate from the title, the movie is set from the viewpoint of George Banks, Annie Banks' father.  George recounts the fiasco that is Annie's wedding and all of the goings ons around it.  As Annie returns from Rome, George's secretary announces over the loudspeaker at the sneaker factory that George owns, "George, she landed!"

That line has really stuck around with my sister and I.  Every trip we take or important milestone, we exclaimed, "George, she landed!"  Or "George, she sitting!"  Or "George, she's crawling!"  Well, "George, she's pulling herself up!"  Can you believe that; pulling herself up and then standing?!  This girl is something else.

I'm not sure exactly who she's going to be; maybe funny, maybe serious, maybe carefree or maybe by the book; but no matter who she turns into, she will be standing.  Standing at 7 months, standing at her wedding... You get it, right?  I'm being Mrs. Sentimental 2014; but for real, this is kind of a big thing.  And being the good mother that I am, I had to document it all.  So, here she is, George; standing!

Happy To Be Three

About 7 months ago, give or take a few days, Arden turned three... And about 7 months ago, give or take a few days, Jameslyn was born.  Both were very special moments, and both of them involved me being tired, huge and pregnant/not pregnant.  Arden definitely got the short end of the stick on his birthday.  We just got a grocery store cake, had over our parents, sang and called it a day.  It was totally a legit birthday, but it also could have been better.  For the next 7 months, I talked frequently about the party that I was going to have for Arden.  Themes, food, people, etc.  Well that talk never materialized into an actual party...

Guilty mother that I am, I decided that I just needed to have the damn party and that no matter who showed up or what decorations I actually managed to make/buy that the party had to happen.  It was a nice party and he was happy to be three, because, well because he doesn't have a say in the matter.  We got a bouncy house, I made a cake (I think that's sorta my thing now...) and we ordered food.

The day started off with a knock on our front door at 6:45 am; the bouncy house was in da' house!!!  (Or really the back yard)  Despite being 3 hours early, we were all like: awesome and there was bouncing and sliding before 7:00 am.  The party ended when the birthday boy laid down on the couch and fell asleep; party over.  I know it wasn't over the top, or jaw dropping, but it was legit fun, something that cannot be overlooked and certainly the number one priority to a three year old.

Is It Too Soon?

No, it's never too soon to talk about Christmas and if you think it is, then you should stop reading... NOW.  I've gotta say that this sweater is like the best sweater ever:
Amazon
Not only is if from the best movie ever, which if you don't know what movie that is, I would think that you've stopped reading by now, but it's reasonably priced at about $25 +shipping and handling.  I wish that I could QVC model the ish out of this right now, because that's how much I want it.

So let's say that we all start thinking happy and merry thoughts and work on getting into the holiday spirit!

...And I'm Back

It's kinda like the Backstreet Boys' Everybody, when they proclaimed Backstreet's back, alright!  And I was like, wait... where did they go?  Well that's what I did.  An unannounced (clearly) hiatus for the summer and you know what, it felt kind of good.  We had some lazy summer days and then some totally crazy, non-stop summer days.

There was lots of rollin' and sittin' and gigglin', courtesy of Jameslyn or else there would be no need to mention these things, since the rest of us have been doing them for years.  We went to the beach and to a the boys started swimming in my Mother's pool for the first time; they're naturals.

Jim and I did some fancy-pants stuff like go to weddings and the Billy Joel concert, we had two (that's right count 'em up!) nights to ourselves this summer, both were glorious.  And as I'm recapping it I'm starting to think, perhaps I didn't need that break after all... but then I realize that I'm typing this whole post like this:

Well whatever, I'm making my official return and it's gonna be fabulous.  We've got some fun things coming up: a trip to my old stomping grounds, Jameslyn's first Halloween (spoiler alert, her cosutme's gonna be sweet!) and so much more.  Until then, enjoy the highlights!
